Iran’s non-oil exports in the spotlight

TEHRAN – The Production for Export Forum was held in Sharif University of Technology here on Sunday, focusing on non-oil exports.

Mehdi Ghazanfari, the Trade Promotion Organization of Iran (TPOI) head, predicted that non-oil exports will fetch the country $20 billion in the current Iranian year (to end March 19).
Ghazanfari, also the deputy commerce minister, added that for the first time ever in the country the sector witnessed a 172 percent growth, pointing to a 9 percent rise in exports sector when compared to the figure of previous year.
Referring to the measures adopted by the TPOI, he called the improvement of the structure a strategy that promotes exports.
Banks and insurance companies’ efficiency is disproportionate to the volume of exports, regretted the official.
Ghazanfari urged the banks to adopt strategies to facilitate non-oil exports.
Also delivering a speech at the confab, the Governor of the Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Tahmasb Mazaheri obliged the private and state-run commercial banks to support the sector.
